Daniel Pearl World Music Days Shabbat at TAS
Shabbat Celebration - October 28th - 9:00 pm
Daniel Pearl World Music Days is an international network of concerts that use the power of music to reaffirm our commitment to tolerance and humanity. Since 2002, Daniel Pearl World Music Days has grown to include the participation of more than 6,700 performances in 111 countries. World Music Days is an awareness-raising program, not a fundraiser.
The world wide month long events were created in response to the 2002 kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl at the hands of extremists in Karachi, Pakistan. Danny's family and friends came together to work towards a more humane world, forming the Daniel Pearl Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to promote cross-cultural understanding through journalism, music, and innovative communications.
Join Rabbi Lutz and Cantor Roher for Shabbat Service on Friday, October 28th at 8:00pm as we honor our commitment to tolerance and humanity featuring music composed by TAS accompanist James Fuchs with guest vocalists Cantor Rebekah Mirsky, Orly Campbell, Rickie Gole, Zach Dunham and on trumpet, David Wein.
Spotlight on James Fuchs
James has written numerous original songs and compositions for concert and theatrical productions. He has toured with such acts as Macy Gray, Jerry Cantrell and Teri Nunn of Berlin.
Along with writing two original musicals, Figaro's Divorce (Figgy) and Freedom Song (co-writer), James has composed Jewish liturgical music for temples, choirs and cantorial soloists and even a children's album about colors.
James' love of classical, jazz and popular music has inspired him to infuse these styles into his own creative work. He is truly a passionate musician and performer and loves to share and express music. James is excited to present his musical talent with TAS on Friday evening,
