Debbie Shayer

Clergy Administrative Assistant

Debbie Shayer joyfully joined the Temple Ahavat Shalom team in October 2020. She provides valuable office support to the Rabbi and the Cantorial Soloist, and is always happy to assist the members of the congregation. Debbie is a Jew by Choice who enjoys the meaningful rewards that working in the Jewish community has offered. She enthusiastically enjoys learning, personal growth, and meeting people.

Debbie’s Armenian family were very involved in many worthwhile organizations. To carry on the family’s belief to “give back” to the community, she volunteered at the Arthritis Foundation and the Los Angeles Commission on Assaults Against Women. Debbie also served as a Board member of Concern II – raising funds for Cancer Research (currently Concern Foundation) and City of Hope PAC Chapter.

Debbie attended Otis College of Art and Design and Art Center College of Design. She became a Graphic Designer who worked in marketing and communications. Her career positions included working at advertising agencies, an international furniture company, and CBS/KCAL9 News.

Debbie has a son who graduated in 2022 from Otis College of Art and Design (the same college that his mother attended!).
