Lifelong Learning – Adult Education

Learning at TAS does not end with Confirmation. We welcome anyone asking questions and seeking answers to join our community as we study everything from holidays to theology.

Come join us as we learn to bake challah and chant Torah. Gather with your friends in our community to discuss your thoughts on God, religion, and prayer. Led by a terrific team of rabbis and educators, we aim to address the questions that arise most often in our Jewish lives. Our discussions seek to deepen Jewish identity and make Judaism more accessible to you and everyone in our community.

While registration is not a requirement for attendance at any of our courses, it is extremely helpful for our advance planning. By registering you help to ensure that there will be enough materials and space for everyone in attendance. For more information regarding specific courses and times, please contact our education office and ask for a complete adult education brochure.

Adult B’nai Mitzvah

The adult B’nai Mitzvah program is designed for those adults who have yet to celebrate their Bar/Bat Mitzvah with the Jewish community. Completion of the B’nai Mitzvah program is recognized by the student’s individual participation in a Shabbat service. As with all our B’nai Mitzvah, participation will include leading the congregation in prayer, reading from the Torah, and Haftarah, and sharing a personal statement with the congregation.

Requirements:

  • 18 units of Judaic Studies
  • 18 units of Hebrew Studies
  • Periodic meetings with the Rabbi and/or Cantor

Stepping into our Community allows us to shake off the stress of life while providing the opportunity to reimagine we are Jews living in a Jewish world.

Prayer at Temple Ahavat Shalom

As a Beit Tefillah – a House of Prayer – Temple Ahavat Shalom provides a place of spiritual nourishment and renewal for all in an often chaotic world.
